The recent European collective agreement contains updated provisions: we are pleased to inform you that the CAPE EC negotiating team and the TBS negotiating team met today to sign the new collective agreement of the Community group, which has just been ratified. As of today, the new provisions are in effect with the usual wage exception. Please note that specific provisions have been negotiated during the current cycle to address the issue of retroactive compensation implementation and salary scale adjustment. In 2017, the Federal Public Sector Labour Relations and Employment Board decided that civilian members of the RCMP should be considered public service officers under the ESS classification, which do essentially work similar to those of EC officials.

When this decision comes into force, CADRE workers will be covered by the collective agreement and will be considered part of the EC`s bargaining unit. In the meantime, existing RCMP conditions continue to apply to SSE members. However, these members can benefit from a number of CAPE benefits, including assistance in filing complaints and representation in discussions with the Ministry of Finance secretariat.
